19th Annual Golden Trailer Awards Nominees Announced

The Golden Trailer Awards nominees have once again been announced. Practically the Oscars of motion picture trailers and television marketing, the nomination tallies reflect a shifting of the cultural guard over from the traditional major studios towards the major players in streaming such as Netflix. This year, both Warner Bros. and Netflix round out the top two studios with 62 nominations each.

The top nominations by vendors (trailer houses/studios) include Buddha Jones at 30 nominations, followed closely by Trailer Park at 29 and Mark Woollen and Associates at 23.

Naturally of interest to us at Trailaurality are the aurally-oriented categories. Even culled as such, the list is long; trailers that we have covered are bolded with a link to the corresponding post.

Among the nominations, one appears to stand out: Baby Driver, a film in which music figures heavily, is nominated in three of the ten music and sound -oriented categories. Otherwise, the nominee roster boasts a healthy and varied mix which speaks to the diversity of creative practices that the studios and trailer houses take as they seek to craft finely-tunes music and sound that fits both the visual narrative of the trailer as well as the overall tone of its pitch to movie goers.
